Access Accounts
Q. I have not received my user ID and password yet and my course has
already started. What do I do?
A. Contact us by
phone at 1-800-252-3592, option 4, or 814-865-0047. After verifying your identity, we can provide your
user ID and password. Please note that we generally cannot distribute user IDs and passwords via e-mail due
to security reasons.
Q. What do I do if I have forgotten/lost my password?
A. Again, you can contact us
at 1-800-252-3592, option 4, or 814-865-0047 and, after verifying your identity, we can reset your password for you.
Q. How do I change my password from the original that was provided in my
welcome packet?
A. You can change your password from the original by going to
www.work.psu.edu. From there, click on the link to
"Change your password" from the right side of the screen. You will be asked to enter your Penn State Access
Account user ID (e.g., xyz123), your current password, and your new password (twice for verification purposes).
Then click the "Change Password" button. Please use the guidelines provided on that page for creating your new password.
Q. My password does not seem to be working. What can I do?
A. Here are a few things to look for:
- Make sure you are typing your user ID and password correctly. The letters are case-sensitive, so
if you use a capital letter in place of a lower case letter, or if you have your "Caps Lock" on, it
will be read incorrectly. The letters in your user ID are all lower case.
- If you are being prompted for "User Name," you are being asked to enter your user ID (e.g., xyz123),
not your full name.
- Your browser may be saving account information from another Web site. Check the user ID that is
displayed when the password prompt appears to make sure you are entering your Penn State account
information.
- If you already had a Penn State user ID and password before you registered for your course, you should
continue to use that account information. The password mailed with your course materials is your
original password. If you have changed your password, you should use your new password to access
your course.
Note: You can verify your password by going to
Password Verify to see if
the password you are using is correct. If your password is correct but is not working for you in a
particular location, contact us.
Q. What do I do if my Access Account has expired or is about to
expire?
A. Please contact our registration staff at 1-800-252-3592 or
814-865-5403 (press option 2), and they will be happy to assist you.
